Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre
The redevelopment of the Payneham Memorial Swimming Centre stands as a landmark project for the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters, representing the largest building initiative ever delivered by the Council.
This ambitious project transforms the site into a premier community hub, defined by its striking architectural timber features and expansive scale.
At the heart of the design is a massive 5,400 sqm ceiling structure. The use of prefabricated glulam modules brings a distinct sense of identity to the facility, combining structural innovation with a warm, inviting aesthetic. Beyond its visual impact, the timber installation is engineered to provide superior acoustics, essential for a high-performance aquatic environment.
Theca Timber played a vital role in bringing this vision to life, working alongside a dedicated project team to ensure the successful delivery of this complex timber geometry. From the initial design stages to the practical completion of the ceiling, the project highlights the seamless integration of modern timber technology within large-scale public infrastructure.
